I prepare a fresh fruit salad every day. Have a salad sandwich for lunch and a fresh salad for dinner.

I shop locally from the grocery store (not the supermarket). Who owns the store? Chinese! God knows where they get their produce from... heavily fertilized ground no doubt. I think I'm being healthy but am I? I have a toothache!

Keep in mind that while the West crashes, the East is rising. The West, led by the US, is controlled by a small group of sociopathic oligarchs who control a financialized ecomony. See Michael Hudson for info.

Climate change is being used as a tool to deceive people into thinking we cannot have nice things. It is referred to as "degrowth"- and it is preposterous.

China has figured out how to have nice things and not destroy other countries and the earth in the process. Russia is booming too. Basically any country that stood up to the US's bullying is doing very well these days with its citizens living quite well. Quite well, indeed. You don't know that because your access to information is severely restricted.

It's our system that is irreparably corrupted by monopoly capitalism which intentionally cultivates a demoralized, uneducated, fat, sick and deluded population to hate each other instead of overthrowing the corrupt system.

The times I visited Russia I thought about what it would be like to live there. I was drawn in by their "soul nature" their inclination to see depth and the important things in life rather than be "consumer minded"...some of that wore off due to their cascade into consumerism during the late '90s and early 2000s. I have not been there since 2006, so I don't know how they really are doing.

It is a radically different culture, but I do better around people who actually honour the arts, music, literature. Not saying every Russian does, but more so than most of the people I am around in Canada and in the US. I have many clients, generally rather affluent and educated, who boast they read less than two books a year (if that), have never been to a classical music concert or ballet, and haven't stepped into a museum or art gallery since a grade school field trip. Not saying this makes people "stupid"...but they typically are a bore to talk to!

There is really no doubt that the East, particularly China and Russia, will be the new world leaders if this global/centrist takeover fails. It is sad to me that the great experiment with the US—democracy, freedom and all that, essentially has failed. It rotted from the inside out, and from the head down. I think if the people of the US had not been lulled to sleep it would have survived. I am an American...and my heart is there...

Thanks Tod,

A giant blueberry...hollow of anything nutritious, disconnected from mother natures source and bloated with the artificial.....yummy!!

I’m reminded that growing our own fruit or vegetables is a huge act of resistance!

Grow the change....be the change.

I grow a bunch of stuff in the backyard every year but it certainly isn't enough to feed me. A neighborhood co-op is the way to go. I could grow hundreds of cucumbers, or tomatoes, or any single vegetable, but would need to supplement that with others from other gardens...my backyard just isn't big enough.

It is fascinating to think how we all really could take care of that part of our diet if we turned grass lawns (or pool yards) into gardens. But then people would have to sweat and work outside...god forbid.

Another great article followed up by thoughtful comments. Thanks, everybody. Yesterday I “woke up” to all the building that has been going in here in New Jersey, USA. It’s called Vermella and suddenly it’s everywhere. I just researched it and it’s a lot of other places, not just what I’ve observed personally. The 15 minute cities have been quietly building all around us - for years!!! Initially I was outraged, now I feel mostly helpless and stupid. “They” are going to do it to us whether we like it or not

Yeah, I have another article coming out that is more doomsday stuff...ironically I do not mention 15 minute Cities, which is a big part of the ruse they are pulling over us. If I mentioned everything in one article it would be 100 pages long. Pray, pray, pray...

It is all such a profound balancing act. I need to be aware of what is happening, but at the same time not become so immersed in fear that there is no light I can see.

Expand full comment
Todd Hayen, PhD, RP's avatar

No point in any fear...maybe apprehension regarding the challenges we may face...but no fear. The body is dispensable (not to say that fact will make anyone feel better!)

As one of my favorite biblical characters said before going into battle..."If I perish, I perish..."

And yes, "balancing act" is a good way to put it. My entire effort is spent figuring out where the point of tension between the opposites lies. The world is so polarized, you either must be "for" or "against"...and in reality there is really nothing further from the truth than an "all right" or "all wrong" answer...any system complex enough to be a system worthy of any attention has good and bad elements to it...but there IS truth...if the system is to be understood, it is to be understood only in its entirety for what it truthfully is, good and bad.

Only one thing is pure good, and it is a simple system—love.

I understand all of what you are saying, I think. But I try to focus on the things I have some control over. What I put in my mouth, for one. Organic and whole foods that don't contain bugs! Don't eat anything that requires a label! Take a walkabout every day. Meditate twice a day. Pray, pray, pray. I'm very grateful for your musings, and also the internet! Blessings to you, dear Shrew Leader!

Always keep in mind many of my articles are aimed at people who are not shrews...I use the word "we" really to just make a broad statement that may include many people, but not all...

I know most of the time I am preaching to the choir, hopefully it is not too irritating!! Thanks so much for reading!

I've just had a few people unsubscribe claiming I am too dark and too self absorbed in my "woe is me" misery. I would agree with the first part, but I don't feel like I am looking for victim-based sympathy...

Any sadness I may have in my life is not because the world is melting down...strangely enough. When you get to my age you don't really have much of a future, so you look for interesting times in the present...and this certainly is an interesting time. I have no worry that the human "expression"...God's grand experiment with materiality...will perish from the universe. God cannot help but create...and the material realm is the only canvas for that creation. So life will go on.

It is a wounded and weary world. Mankind has no ability to forswear anything. I have felt for a long time that I will not live out my natural life, due to the many dangers inherent in this strange thing we call modern life.

Beautifully put-you express the sadness as what we are living through starts to settle in.

Reminds me of this Donald Justice poem that keeps running through my head:

There Is a Gold Light in Certain Old Paintings

1

There is a gold light in certain old paintings

That represents a diffusion of sunlight.

It is like happiness, when we are happy.

It comes from everywhere and nowhere at once, this light,

And the poor soldiers sprawled at the foot of the cross

Share in its charity equally with the cross.

2

Orpheus hesitated beside the black river.

With so much to look forward to he looked back.

We think he sang then, but the song is lost.

At least he had seen once more the beloved back.

I say the song went this way: O prolong

Now the sorrow if that is all there is to prolong.

3

The world is very dusty, uncle. Let us work.

One day the sickness shall pass from the earth for good.

The orchard will bloom; someone will play the guitar.

Our work will be seen as strong and clean and good.

And all that we suffered through having existed

Shall be forgotten as though it had never existed.

This makes me immediately sad and at the same time reminds me of what I need to be doing. First, I must pray each day for the awakening of more to our shrew viewpoints to see and hear the evil we are allowing to be perpetrated upon us so that more light will be shine upon the darkness to help illuminate and eliminate it. I must not despair, knowing in my heart that the truth will triumph over that darkness. One foot in front of the other. Read more encouraging stories and less depressing ones. Get out in the world, exercise my body and mind, eat real food, shine my light! It’s our mission! Be the light! Live the truth! Bring His kingdom, through our hearts and minds to our earthly game board. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. This is the goal our divine selves are truly grasping for in all our imagined progress! We want to reconnect with who we are. We must see and hear with our hearts and souls and not mistake the misguided distractions from our minds and egos for the true calling; our true purpose! Thank you for the needed reminder!😝
