Not keen on an organised group or organisation. Individual fightback is the grassroots way. The “powers that be” have little way to counter millions of individuals but are at ease countering an organisation. I have tried many different ways of fighting back from stand alone protests, hand drawn posters in upstairs street facing windows, to writing a case study report to the Welsh Senedd, to multiple letters to local MPs etc. The one thing that grassroots cannot do is “argue the science”. This is simply dismissed with their own “experts” science. There is nothing more powerful than personal experience. Those arguments are difficult for them to fight. This is an omniwar and there are literally thousands of angles to take and thousands of different things to do. I believe that there are millions of us. Overwhelming the system with the truth (personal experience) about what is really happening to each person and how it affects each individual and why each person rejects their plans and methods, would make a far greater difference than organised protests, facsimile letter campaigns and petitions.
Organised groups, no matter how pure their original intention, almost always become easier targets. The powers that be (and shouldn't be) know exactly how to infiltrate, defund, smear, or simply wait out an organisation. Millions of separate individuals acting from their own lived experience are far harder to pin down.
Personal experience is the one thing their “experts” and institutional science can’t easily dismiss. You can’t argue someone out of what their body has lived through, what their eyes have seen, or what their family has suffered. That kind of testimony sits deeper than any study or talking point.
I’ve long believed the real work happens at the level of the single shrew who refuses to look away, who keeps speaking from what they actually know rather than from a shared script. The aggregate of those individual refusals is what eventually shifts the ground. I think this reflects Emerson's ideas on "self reliance"...and yes, bottom up integrity and decency innately "known" by all of us individually.
