My god help......if viruses actually existed I'd be shitting myself. I tell what was terrifying though Todd, that was the story they were shoving me as I went to leave the website. Christina Aguilera poses nude for fans. I had to look of course and the image of what She looks like now is beyong frightening. WTF has happened to her body shape. She now has massively artificial hips and her face is starting to resemble Madonna. Ive never been to truely believe in the second coming of Jesus, but my god, if its true, it must be just around the corner.

LOL...but I agree...something so funky and weird is happening I think we are not really feeling how over the top it is...some of us might be, but I for one keep trying to cram it into normalcy..."oh, it will pass, it isn't THAT bad"...but often I am hit with this realization it is really quite bad!!

Human beings have such a powerful and efficient mechanism for denial. If something goes too far over the top we literally ignore it...I am sure you have heard the story of native islanders in the South Pacific not even seeing European ships on the horizon. It was such a foreign sight, their cognitive systems just denied it even existed (that story has since been fact checked and apparently is not true...)

Hummm. I wonder if the Shrew Flu will scare enough people that they will be able to lock down the world again?? I hope not! II wonder if perhaps pushing RSV and their new vaccine didn't provide the hysteria they needed and this is the back up plan. Or perhaps the plan is to just make the sheep believe that life outside is becoming so deadly that they will all stay in their homes and live in their own little bubbles? Ultimately, that is what they want ... less travel, 15 minute cities, etc.

Strange they would pick a shrew...these creatures are rather rare. Better that they make the host a common animal, like a cat...(I think "The Simpsons" did that one). They would have everyone by the "you know whats" if they made cats toxic.

Its seems most of this jockying around with flus and pandemics is backfiring on them, but I think there is a reason in the rhyme (don't know if that metaphor butchering works). We'll see. But I doubt if Shrew Flu flies. There will be another soon enough.

Yes, good point....a rare animal definitely wouldn't cause massive hysteria. It does make one wonder if they think they can call "wolf" so many times and hope to produce the same level of fear they got the first time?? I agree with you -- they certainly do have a "reason in the rhyme". The end goal is broader! Maybe the "fact" that there are so many new-found "deadly" viruses showing up that it will ultimately provide the justification for the UN's Digital Vaccine Passport for travel....and that is just the beginning of things to come.

It's looking a bit green about the gills, that virus. It needs to stay at home for a few days till it's feeling better.

I volunteer for the exit from the circus madness with this virus! I thought they’d play the Marburg/Ebola on us, but it looks like they’ll try a brand new/never seen before/amazingly deadly entity instead. Bring it on! If it accelerates my trip back to my maker, the better!! I’m so done with their BS.

Well, I'm not going to take it personally. The legacy news stories are reading like lines from a Monty Python's Flying Circus transcript. And I always laughed at the controlled insanity of MPFC; shrew that I am, the giggles are upon me. What a show!

what on earth? an artist's rendition of a fictional thingy? drizzle dangerous chemicals on your hands right away. kill the dead things! buy the laundry soap that promises to kill dead things in their tracks! all dead things must be, well, erm, you know. killed! another horribly written hollywood time waster? nope. these dead things are real i tells ya. https://www.etsy.com/ca/market/covid_plush

I wish I could claim credit for the colorful virus photo, but I can't. Considering you can't take pictures of viruses if they don't exist, and even if you could they would be black and white (no color) someone, probably in China, gets credit for the new "Covid/Shrew" color scheme.

I WILL take credit for the shrew pic though…I pieced him together with various elements…the shrew itself is a found pic, the hot water bottle, the thermometer, and the sweat droplets I added and built myself in photoshop…it is NOT AI!!! Unless my own intelligence is artificial, which at this point I cannot be sure….

There are people who believe that all those colored "three dimensional" pictures are actual photographs of viruses.

I know! They think that about space pictures of distant galaxies as well, although I think some of that is real.

My husband thought that the colorful visual representations of objects in outer space were actual pictures and he hoped to some day see it all for himself. At some point I realized what was going on in his head and decided to try to show him. I explained about adding color according to the different wave lengths coming from the stars and had to get our older son involved to convince him. Poor guy. He was so disappointed. He also thought that there were snakes as big as semis. I couldn’t figure out where he got that idea and couldn’t dissuade his conviction and fear. After he died, while going through the pictures on his phone I found (photoshopped) pictures he had downloaded from the internet of snakes so large that they were being lifted by cranes. He thought they were real. If it’s on the internet it must be real, right?!? I miss that man. For him, anything was possible

God bless your husband. Who knows, maybe there ARE snakes that big! If we believe, then they exist, if not only in our world.

Please my friend, don't get me started on the subject of distant galaxies and all that! I still cannot buy that they claim to have found a planet that "could support life"... because they "believe" it has water... and it is "just" 150 light years away from us...

Expand full comment

I had heard recently that there are hundreds of planets in the Goldilocks Zone of potential life giving planets (assuming they are all flat). One part of me does wonder if Earth is the only one...which would be rather cool (and cruel) in its own right. But what a hoot that would be if there are worlds with beings just like us going through the same sort of insanity, only different...wild.

What I read is that they estimate there are >300 million planets in the universe that potentially could support life. But there are only a few hundred that are "close neighbors" meaning they are "just" hundreds of light years away or less. By "potentially life-supporting" they mean that they estimate the conditions (basically ternperature) are conducive to having liquid water... To me it is easier to believe in a fairy tale. The same people who think that we will be doomed if the Earth's atmosphere increases the % of CO2 from 0.04% to 0.05%... believe that if that happens, we will be able to travel to one of those planets, and in a hundred years - traveling at the speed of light - will be fine there, because "maybe" there is water. Or better yet, let's go to Mars, with an atmosphere 95% CO2.
