I am livid. I should be happy, and maybe I am happy deep inside, but the feeling bubbling over in me right now is anger. Anger, disgust, and resentment.
As I am sure you all know, the CDC has recently announced, rather nonchalantly, that Covid 19 infections should be treated like the flu. There is no longer a 5-day quarantine, and no longer any great concern about infecting the world and killing Grandma. Treat it like the flu. In other words, stay home if you feel sick, and go back out into the world when you have no symptoms. You are good to go.
Really?
Is this the same disease that 3 years ago shut down the world? —the same disease that caused panic the likes of nothing the world has known since the Black Death darkened our door 700 years ago? Yes, it actually is. Nothing scientifically has happened to make this grandaddy of deadlies suddenly inert. There is no miraculous immune response that has rendered everyone in the world incapable of contracting the disease. We have not all of a sudden become supermen who can battle the dreaded virus in such a way that it no longer poses any more threat to our lives than the innocuous flu. No. The only thing that has happened is the CDC got tired of playing their Covid game and decided to casually tell the truth. (Even though telling us Covid is now “just the flu” is a lie as well, but we won’t go into that here. For simplicity’s sake I will stick with idea that the flu is real.)
I did not pay the subscription price to read this article on WSJ’s website, but I would suspect it is about as mainstream as you can get. Check it out if you have a WSJ subscription here. I don’t have to get through their paywall to read the headline, however, so here it is:
It’s Official: We Can Pretty Much Treat Covid Like the Flu Now. Here’s a Guide.
What strikes me about this wording is its ho-hum casual attitude. It is as if this was always expected, and destroying the economy, millions of lives, and the very fabric of humanity was just a fun little project. “It’s official”—meaning when they all knew it was just the flu back in 2020, it wasn’t really official. It was then a secret. Now it’s official, we can all go about treating Covid, if there even is a Covid, “like the flu.” Well, that is a good idea, because it IS the flu (assuming there even is such a thing as a viral flu), and always was. Now, however, that fact is official. Isn’t that nice.
“Here’s a Guide”—oh, that’s nice, too. There was no guide before when Covid was Public Enemy Number One. We were all pretty much left on our own then. No “official” treatment (no Ivermectin, no vitamin D, nothing) unless it got so bad for you that you were rushed to the hospital, put on a ventilator, and given Remdesivir, which the nurses called “Run, Death is Near” behind your back.
I first heard of this CDC announcement on James Corbett’s New World Next Week. He and James Pilato were joking (at least I thought they were joking) they both were getting hundreds of phone calls from listeners apologizing for accusing them of spouting out disinformation when they were calling Covid “just the flu” back in 2020. No phone calls here. Not a peep.
This is why I am livid. No one that I know has had the guts to even admit that what I too was saying back in 2020 was true, let alone apologize for treating me like pond scum for saying it. I lost dozens of friends back then, amongst them some very important friends. Losses that have deeply affected my life and my understanding of the meaning of friendships. I lost the respect and positive regard of some people I dearly love back at the beginning of this fiasco. Again, not a peep now from any of them saying, maybe, just maybe, I may have had some things right.
I see on social media all of the memes celebrating this “I told you so” revelation as the time that friendships and families will be repaired because all of these folks who hated us so much for talking against the authorities and the mainstream, now see the light. After all, the “truth cat” is out of the bag considering this CDC proclamation and all the other mainstream news about excess deaths, myocarditis, blood clots, and other strange anomalies “possibly” related to the vaccine. Is this reparation really happening? Again, not a peep over here.
Tell me, my fellow shrews, are your old friends and family who treated you despicably during the Covid years now throwing wild parties in your honour? Are your communities giving you citations and medals of honour for having the intelligence and foresight to have seen this insanity for what it was when everyone else was huddled in abject fear? I doubt it. Tell me if I am wrong.
Nope. Actually, I suspect that all these folks who treated us nasty are spinning their stories about how the vaccines are responsible for Covid deciding to become just a harmless flu. The vaccines must have made the Covid virus give up trying to be the menace it was born to be. The vaccines, the lockdowns, the social distancing, and the masks, all contributed to the miraculous transformation (or, to use Darwin’s term, evolution) from the population-annihilating scourge that was originally was intended, to the little ‘ol flu the CDC now, in their infinite scientific wisdom, has redefined it. How nice.
So that’s why none of us are seeing accolades being thrown upon us for having such incredible insight into seeing Covid as “just the flu” back in 2020. No, it wasn’t the flu then. Not at all. It was everything King Fauci and the CDC/FDA/NIAID said it was. Only now, it isn’t that. It is the flu. Officially. That means we can’t say, “I told you so.”
So, I am pretty angry. I am angry because even when it is absolutely clear that we have been had—when the people who got us actually admit they took us—that none of these people who decided we (shrews) were all science-denying morons, realize that they treated us horribly. And to be honest, they never will. They will always come up with a way to shoehorn the official narrative into a consistent and non-conflicting narrative. They say Covid was a deadly menace about to destroy the world in 2020, and then in 2024 say it is just the flu. We’ve always said it was just the flu, only now it is official.
The ongoing problem is that the lack of critical thinking (exposed by the covid ridiculousness) depressingly seems to be a feature of humanity, I'm realising. As covid exits stage left, climate doom-mongering is entering stage right. How can people be continually taken for a ride? I have no un-brainwashed people in my much diminished social circle. Can't call anyone a friend when they are so dumb - I just can't connect with stupidity beyond polite chit chat. Thank god for Substack and people like you, Todd.
It's a left brain disease they have which forces them to reverse-engineer an answer that fits their cult's handbook of acceptable answers.
