In the last three years I have changed 180 degrees my impression of the WHO. In the past, as a medical doctor and teacher of Epidemiology, the WHO definition of health and all of their policies would always be the examples shown to students as concepts to learn. As you say... Everyone would agree it was a good idea to have an international organization to promote the good health of the planet....
The WHO's response and role in the declaration of the "covid pandemic" has made me change my view. Tedros has a very questionable past. His declarations violate every known principle of good public health, starting with his ridiculous call for "testing-testing-testing". Anyone with rudimentary knowledge about Epidemiology knows that this is not the way to measure the occurrence or control any respiratory acute infectious disease. From day 1, I could never understand how my colleagues in medicine and public health would fall for such a ridiculous call. Then, it did not stop there. We are very aware of the atrocities you present in your article. I can neither understand how the leader of any sovereign nation would be in favor of giving the WHO power to mandate health policies of individual nations. The idea seems so absurd that I cannot understand how anyone would be in favor.

But that was definitely not The Who that Horton fears, and not The Who we should fear, its The Who we should hear.
