Yes today sadly, we fill up on 'nothing' burgers whether it is food, entertainment, or whatever that takes over our minds and bodies. Everything today is geared toward a dopamine hit - to keep us coming back for more. The days of noting beauty whether it is gazing at a sunset, looking at art, or taking in a broadway show is diminished. People spend more time on social media seeing what other people are doing instead of doing something good for themselves. I don't understand for the life of me why folks need to post "look at me doing ______". Why not treasure that for themselves if it actually meant something. And speaking of spirit, that is mostly empty for many people. There appears too much self-gratification to recognize spirit.
