It's a sign of the times that your first thought as an author went to people who would unfairly label you as "prude" when you aptly described how these daytime displays trampled human modesty, normal families and childhood innocence even more than they mocked Christians. I don't know if there was any beauty left in the rest of the show, i didn't watch. I lost my trust in the honesty and fair play of the Olympics long ago.
At work, on Monday morning, in a large team of mostly women physicians, i had to keep my head down while the morning chatter at the beginning of a regular business meeting was all about how "amazing" and "fantastic" and "diverse" these Olympic opening ceremonies were. I've heard a lot of virtue signalling in my long life, but this was a new low.
This frenzied Olympic display of inflated egos, gluttony and other unbridled animal impulses looks like a cult, and healthcare workers seem eager to act as its powerful priesthood.
My beloved profession is very, very sick. My heart breaks on a daily basis.
"This frenzied Olympic display of inflated egos, gluttony and other unbridled animal impulses looks like a cult, and healthcare workers seem eager to act as its powerful priesthood." This is so apt and so right on.
Like I said in the article, the absence of universal outrage over this is mind numbing. Most people defending this display, saying "it wasn't the last supper! it was the feast of Dionysus!" as if that distinction changes much...the paintings in the past done depicting the "feast of Dionysus" were also meant to be a mockery of the Last Supper. and Christianity (maybe not all, but many)...Dionysus is associated more with "unbridled animal instincts" than with the morals of Christ.
I would have to say the agenda has been very successful as of late...people are truly tapping into their "unsavory" shadow-selves and forgiving any sort of ugliness that can be found there—being open to any sort of sexual preference one may have, defying nature with surgery based on a subjective "feeling," even pedophilia (at least the "attraction" to minors) is the modern "diverse, inclusive, and equitable" way to be in the world. Talk to any young person and you will see how what I just said has been firmly indoctrinated. They blindly think they are "on the right (correct) side of things"...being all "inclusive, equitable, and diverse" when in fact they are resonating with the opposite of these attributes.
Homosexuality (at least the majority of homosexuals) just want to live a typical life, and have it be called "normal." Since we have reached a point in the west where that is now typically the case, people (straight people) seem to think rejecting the idea of transexual as a normal mental state, flamboyance to the degree of having your genitals hang out of your shorts in front of children, and any other sort of sexual deviance (pedophilia?) is tantamount to rejecting "normal" homosexuality. It is not. But the agenda has made certain people THINK it is...just like opposing Netanyahu's Israeli Zionist government is considered anti-semetic.
"Loving who you choose to love" as a tenet of accepting homosexuality has been conflated with all sorts of nasty things...which is entirely unfair to the men and women who are just "loving who they want to love."
I could not overcome my temptation not to respond to this article! Alas . . . what came to mind as I read was the image of the lemniscate. Also called the symbol for eternity, forever, balance, etc. The center representing a balance of two opposing forces. We always live in the tension between one extreme or the other. Darkness/light, good/evil, strength/weakness, etc. In creation one force/impulse/manifestation cannot exist without its opposing force. Like a law of compensation. In that we cannot easily access the "other" worlds (spiritual realms) because of our underdeveloped senses, we are not aware of the activities there. We are blind to the disembodied entities that would love nothing more than to be embodied. Unknowingly we provide portals for these forces to take possession through our activities and thinking. A physical manifestation of the eternal/spiritual lemniscate is the cross. God Himself hung in its fulcrum. In that we are made in His image, we too hang in the fulcrum. . . . or not.
I am 100% in accord with your observations. This was a freak show, completely inappropriate as a prelude to a time-honored and noble tradition. Frankly, and this may seem a little 'out there', but ,looking at the level of chaos and disruption in our world, I can't help but wonder if something truly demonic isn't at work--a kind of demonic Zeitgeist if you will, that has been vomited up from the collective psyche/unconscious. Turning to God--however we define him/her, is critical at this time.
I have always been the last person to believe in an evil power. But by gosh, viewing some of what was presented it was pretty chilling in its decadence.
Anything in thought can become manifest. This includes a physical devil. The only fundamental difference in God and Satan (other than good vs evil) is that if humans cease to exist Satan will disappear as well, God will not.
Going to hijack your 666 image and use it today in a meme for my Image For Today along with another image. Also noticed how the Olympic flame looks like a Non-binary person with short hair and lips. More in your face imagery.

That ceremony was a celebration of the sick and twisted. Nearly all of us have some sick and twisted in us. We should recognize it but we shouldn’t celebrate it. Instead we should try to fix it or at least lessen it.
"Sure, anyone has the right to express such things ..." Do they?
IMHO, your analysis is based on the notion that Reality is immutable while the Psyche is the moldable piece here. My view is nearly opposite, more aligned with the Jungian collective unconscious and its materialization as Reality. In my opinion, various religious proscriptions and taboos were an subconscious attempt to keep Reality coherent and habitable rather than arbitrary acts of oppression. Put simply, it is the material reality that is falling apart as a result of our shattered minds, not the other way. This is a culmination of a process that started a long time ago and by now it is manifesting everywhere. Art — as a random excretion of undisciplined mind — is the obvious problem. For other examples look at "The replication crisis" in science.
I actually agree with you here...not sure what I said that seemed the "opposite"...although I admit with these little short articles it is easy to be "unclear"...
Material reality (which is only part of what we call "reality") is indeed a product of consciousness. However, art, IMHO, is not a "random excretion of undisciplined mind"...although it certainly CAN be. And yes, this is where material reality moves back up the chain of manifestation backwards...i.e., material reality influences mind—creates consciousness. It becomes a feedback loop of sorts. I can see how you would see this as a major problem. It is.
Yes, indeed. That's what I was trying to point to; i.e. to what you referred to as "pop art". Art is a tricky business. There is a much shorter path between Mozart and 'gangsta rap' than between a Gregorian chant and Mozart. Once you have Mozart, piss-christ is just around the corner. That's why, IMHO, some religions did away with art altogether and some tried — and failed — to limit it to ecclesial subjects only.
What we understand by Reality is, in fact, just a tiny, tiny sliver of the Whole; a small subset that we can access by instruments. It is very strange that we should find ourselves in this situation, but here we are. I am not aware of any other civilization that had arrived at the same or even similar conclusion — a truly Faustian bargain. I have spent some time studying old alchemical texts; not the transmutation of metals bits but their view on Reality and instrumentation. Modern scientific method could be summed up as: Mind -> Instrument -> Material World (and back), where the Instrument inserts itself as a severely limiting filter. The alchemical view was closer to Instrument <-> Mind -> Material World, where the Instrument served as an anchor to orient the Mind to interact with Reality properly. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that the unmeasurable Reality is clawing its way back whether we like it or not.
I like what you say here, regarding "instrument>mind>material world"...where the instrument serves as the "anchor" as opposed to a limiting filter...what would that anchor actually be? "The Rules of God"? Unfortunately this is where people really get hung up, I think. They don't like the idea of "rules" whether coming from God for from authoritarian man. I like to think of it this way...there are rules governing the survival of the human body...such as "don't drink gasoline"...there will be consequences. There are also "rules" to keep the spirit intact. You don't have to follow them, but then there are consequences if you don't.
Not sure if that is what you are getting at.
Regarding art...yes, a tricky business. You will not get a concrete interpretation out of me regarding what makes "art" and what doesn't. Because I really don't know. I don't even know if I have much of an opinion...only to say artists, or anyone for that matter, can express anything they want and call it art. No one has to listen, look at, or being inspired by it. But it still has the "right" to exist. It could be inspired by God, or by the Devil...whatever. Again, there are consequences to the creator of said art, nothing personal...just the way it is. However, creating art is better than acting out. And if it is art from the individual, and not coerced due to an agenda (as Nazi art was, or Soviet art, or Mao Art, or even "Pop-Art"...commercial art) then it is "art"...garbage or no garbage. If it has an underlying mass agenda beneath it, then it is, IMHO, most likely garbage.
My beef with the Olympics is that it is not art. It is a coerced display, by an agenda, that has very clear and set goals. The people participating probably all think they are artists, and as artists, have the "right" to express their art. But since it has an underlying agenda, which I believe is nefarious, it has to be commented on for what it is. Manipulation.
I also believe the individual artist can go astray. Of course. but that is another story.
What I meant by 'anchor' is quite difficult to describe. I have made several attempts to stuff it into a paragraph, but without much luck. So, for what it is worth: Human mental acuity is inherently metastable. It is like a ball balanced on the top of a smooth hill. The slightest push and it rolls down. Most people will never experience this because they will have never evolved any thoughts. Those who will and set a goal almost inevitably end up on either side of the hill. One side is purely intellectual where the vision of the goal consumes everything and the practical component is all but forgotten — e.g., today's commentariat, however clever. The other side is where the practical component (the instrument obsession) takes over; where the goal is all but forgotten — modern science, for example. This dichotomy is our modern day predicament. It is virtually impossible to avoid either slide. IMHO, Mind must be involved in both sides, hence it must stay on the top. That’s what Instrument should do. It should keep one balanced by anchoring you to the top of that hill. It should be coherent but not necessarily physically. There is really not much difference between a complex electromechanical apparatus and a deck of Tarot cards as long as it performs the above-mentioned function; i.e. it must be coherent to you.
Per Art: My view is much stricter but not necessarily on what one should be allowed to do or express but on what deserves that nomenclature. Art must be able to convey something that is ordinarily hidden, inaccessible but readily recognized. And by that I mean something metaphysical, not someone’s gastrointestinal problems.
Why is anybody watching an event that awards medals to men with ponytails and mascara who defeat women in athletic competitions? Could such an event be anything else? Any athlete there consents to being a part of the mockery of God. Any viewer consents to being a part of the mockery of God. I will forever view ALL Olympians and fans as demonic freaks and/or blasphemous enablers. Every last one of them, no exceptions. No innocent victims just trying to follow their dreams. The getaway driver who didn't pull the trigger on the store clerk is just as guilty as the gunman who did.
I agree. Ethically, if you’re honest with yourself, you shouldn’t pick and choose. If you don’t agree with something, then stand up against it or do not contribute to the “problem”. These are tests of the soul.

I agree 100%. The appropriate human response would be to walk out, by watching and accepting this very dark and frightening display of satanic power, the person who stays and witnesses becomes part of the ritual. I refuse to watch any of it, seeing the one picture you posted is more than enough.
I wonder if even watching it online also makes you a willing participant? You cannot un-see these rituals, they become part of who you are, at a very deep level. That's the whole point, I think.
It's shocking to note (as you point out) how many think it was 'wonderful'. That, in itself, is a frightening sign of the degradation and destruction of the human spirit.
Thankfully, I didn't watch the opening ceremony and have ZERO interest in watching the games. All this is to normalize what 'they' want us to accept as normal. It isn't. I also am not a prude but we have literally gone over the cliff of acceptability. The way I am looking at these things now is the crazier, the more vulgar, the more immoral behaviour we witness, the more that group gloats with excitement. I have heard that the Olympic committee has apologized. True or not? It got out there for all eyes to see and you can't unsee it so mission accomplished. Very disturbing times!
The IOC "apologized"... but their "apology" is based on denying their intention to mock the Last Supper. The creator of the set claims that he based the scene on the painting "The Feast of the Gods". If there is any resemblance between the scene they depicted and that painting, I don't see it.
This part of the ceremony was garbage ….aside from the agenda being pushed in front a worldwide audience, what did any of it have to do with athleticism, commitment, endurance or strength. Many of the folks featured likely couldn’t walk a kilometre.
Agree 100%. Irrespective of what anyone believes about "DEI", LGBTTQ+... or whatever, the question is: What does that have to do with the Olympics? As you say, it seems like a persistence on imposing a particular worldview on everyone. The sad thing is that the general reaction from people who should feel offended was: "what an awesome opening ceremony". I cannot believe it. Celine Dion's performance near the end was mindboggling, from my point of view, but as you say, not enough to erase what came before.
With you 100% on this. I cannot fathom the double standards that present this as suitable family viewing. It is disturbing and symptomatic, as you say, of a degraded society.
We have been brainwashed into believing that morality, and decency, is "not with the times" and somehow "old fashioned" and "distasteful"...even offensive in an odd way (people would say decency is now a sign of homophobia, transphobia, and a denial of enjoying the fun of life.)
And Christianity is the same...restrictive, prudish, rigid, restriction of freedoms, restriction of the flamboyant, spontaneity, restriction of sexual freedom. Everyone is gay if they just let their inhibitions down, it is so much fun, so colorful, exciting. So let's make fun of that, let's show everyone how restrictive and fuddy duddy Christianity is...so NOT with the times.
Everyone loves this "freedom"...freedom to express anything you want, to be who you are deep inside, to let go, to be free in your expression. Anything that puts limits on human expression is bad, is wrong, is restricting. "We should all be allowed to be who we want to be."
Sorry, that simply does not work. Humans are entropic, if left alone, they self destruct. Sad but true. We can still be unlimited in our expression of art, but this was not art, this was coercion. Living within the limits of morality, love (not just sexual love), is how humans can live a good, decent, and beautiful life.
It's a sign of the times that your first thought as an author went to people who would unfairly label you as "prude" when you aptly described how these daytime displays trampled human modesty, normal families and childhood innocence even more than they mocked Christians.
Beautifully said!
