News no longer reports. It tells you what to think, and it starts right from the headlines. Instead of a headline asking something like, "Is racism getting worse in America?" it asks, "Why is racism getting so bad in America?" They put it right there in the headline; that way you don't even need to read the story to get the intended message. And, it's everywhere. In movies. TV shows. Advertising. It's gotten so I don't watch TV or movies or read newspapers anymore. I don't need to because I already know the various agendas. It's all spin.

Great article, Todd. Enjoyed it. Thanks!

Rome never fell. And the propaganda advanced from town criers and scrolls to a screen in every hand.

Legacy media is trying to indoctrinate us with their insistence that we must indulge delusions are being forced on us with sophisticated lies. It's The Science (TM) that we're being told we must follow. Behavioral science. A pseudoscience. That uses clever linguistics and symbolism for psychological effect. Because they believe we are "three year old's" who can't be allowed to "run across the street."

Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media"

Noam Chomsky, 1988

https://chomsky.info/19890315/

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/315851198_A_Critique_of_Edward_Herman_and_Noam_Chomsky's_Manufacturing_Consent_The_Political_Economy_of_Mass_Media

"If you go back to the International Encyclopedia of Social Sciences published in 1933 — days when people were a little more open and honest in what they said — there’s an article on propaganda, and it’s well worth reading. There’s an entry under propaganda. The entry is written by a leading- one- maybe the leading American political scientist, Harold Lasswell, who was very influential, particularly in this area, communications, and so on. And in this entry in the International Encyclopedia on propaganda he says, we should not succumb to democratic dogmatisms about men being the best judges of their own interests. They’re not, he said. Even with the rise of mass education- doesn’t mean that people can judge their own interests.

They can’t. The best judges of their interests are elites — the specialized class, the cool observers, the people who have rationality — and therefore they must be granted the means to impose their will. Notice, for the common good. Because, again, because- well, he says, because of the ignorance and superstition of the masses, he said it’s necessary to have a whole new technique of control, largely through propaganda.

Propaganda, he says, we shouldn’t have a negative connotation about, it’s neutral. Propaganda, he says, is as neutral as a pump handle. You can use it for good, you can use it for bad; since were good people, obviously, — that’s sort of true by definition — we’ll use it for good purposes, and there should be no negative connotations about that. In fact, it’s moral to use it, because that’s the only way that you can save the ignorant and stupid masses of the population from their own errors. You don’t let a three year old run across the street, and you don’t let ordinary people make their own decisions. You have to control them."

"So in a- as a society becomes more free — that is, there’s less capacity to coerce — it simply needs more sophisticated indoctrination and propaganda. For the public good. The similarity between this and Leninist ideology is very striking. According to Leninist ideology, the cool observers, the radical intelligentsia, will be the vanguard who will lead the stupid and ignorant masses on to, you know, communist utopia, because they’re too stupid to work it out by themselves.

And in fact there’s been a very easy transition over these years between one and the other position. You know, it’s very striking that continually people move from one position to the other, very easily. And I think the reason for the ease is partly because they’re sort of the same position.

So you can be either a Marxist-Leninist commissar, or you can be somebody celebrating the magnificence of State capitalism, and you can serve those guys. It’s more or less the same position. You pick one or the other depending on your estimate of where power is, and that can change."

Chomsky's work is more development of the concepts written by Australian Alex Carey. Cbomsky even dedicated his book to Carey, impressed by his work:

Taking the risk out of democracy: Propaganda in the US and Australia, (1995 Alex Carey)

https://ratical.org/ratville/RiskDemo.html

https://www.greenleft.org.au/content/corporate-war-against-democracy

Taking the Risk out of Democracy: Corporate Propaganda Versus Freedom and Liberty, (1997 Alex Carey)

http://dailyrevolution.org/saturday/carey1.html

https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=7182262

These tools of psychological manipulation have been turned against western liberal freedom and democracy. The books were written by authors, Chomsky and Carey, who presented themselves as outsiders looking in on the powers that controlled us when they were writing.

Totalitarianism now has these tools at its disposal, in the hands of the elite who have no loyalty to individual and freedom, no desire to protect it. The applied science of totalitarianism is behavioral science, sophisticated propaganda. And there is only one way out of this. And that is to change their "estimate of where power is."

I keep thinking of (and humming) that classic song by Marvin Gaye 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine': "People say believe half of what you see, son, and none of what you hear". Well, these days it's dangerous to believe even half of what you see, thanks to deep faked imagery. And even if one witnesses something first-hand, one must STILL factor in trust in one's own mind when it is entrained with confirmation bias and good ol' fashioned prejudice, or is under the influence of mind-numbing emotion. The eyes are only sense nodes, and the brain is what deciphers the input. I don't trust anyone 100%, not even myself, for varying reasons. For instance, I may trust some one's honesty and 'good heart' but not their ability to engage the skills of observation or critical thinking.

Placing trust in the propaganda of the ruling class (or its wanna-be replacements) has always been a foolhardy endeavor. But "Alternative" sources cannot be considered an homogenous entity. I listen to or read offerings from many sources. But I am very picky-choosy about whom I 'follow'...and even so, no one gets it all correct all the time. We were gifted with 6 senses (at least), a complex heart-mind, and a spirited being -- every part of which must be employed in the search for what is true, as well as what is truly good <3

I don't buy the myth that we ever had fair reporting.

There were periods where stories came out that were challenging the big scams of the day.

However, you can tell it was still a rigged system when it came to war.

They pumped up the fear for the corrupt leaders.

The times the media starts reporting truths here and there is when they're losing viewership, like right now. That's why CNN challenged fauci on masks for example.

Their cash cow of big pharma and military contractor funding is what kept them from reporting the truth, but the irony is that those funders are now paying less because viewership is down because of the messed up shit that they have been doing.

It's an absurdist revolution now, where the empire scrambles to regain trust but still thinks it can lie often. They are still holding back the truth that would help them regain trust because they're still beholden to those who pay them to lie.

I have always had the belief that the news would print anything that got people to read...so you would think that all the garbage going on now--fake masks, fake lock downs, fake vaccines, fake government, corruption, lies, etc. would have papers flying off the newstands (as if papers and newstands still exist). But now...that ain't happening.

Weather is a huge topic right now. Again, an external enemy that we, as minions, have no control over. Since THEY can control it, they can really wreak havoc on all of our psyche's...

I am curious to see how the alien thing pans out. If the government will be attacking cities with fake flying saucers and claiming aliens are here killing us all.

And the true/real crises are man-ufactured -- not by carbon emissions from life forms or even by mechanical vehicles, but by militarized arson, weather-driving/creating microwave and other e-m frequencies, and aerosols purposefully injected in the atmosphere.

It is exactly as you say, Todd. I guess news media have always had some bias, but in the past, they seemed to limit themselves more to just provide information. I remember checking the newspaper every day just to know the events that happened the day before... some politician said something, there was a storm that hit somewhere, someone important died... Now they feel compelled to "explain" everything and (worse) try to convince everyone that they know the answers to everything. And as you say, people have become used to expect that... 🙄

Yes; I was just irritated when the media stopped reporting on what had happened and instead started the "So-and-so will say in a speech tomorrow" style. It opened my eyes to the increasing tendency to tell us what to think, though.

Good points and it's not just legacy media. The monitoring, modeling and steering of individual & group behavior happens now in real-time, using Natural Language Processing (NLP) for sentiment analysis.

It's become a continuously running cybernetic feedback loop that uses the continuous stream of online social-emotional data to predict & steer behavior.

You’re not paranoid, what you’re seeing is happening all over the place. This is far from being “normal “. We are, whether we realize it or not, fighting a war against the global elite. They are hell bent on annihilating us, and they are using psy -ops, propaganda, censorship, clot shots and directed energy weapons to wipe out entire communities, such as Lahaina. No sir, you are not paranoid at all.
